Deleting your data

Unlink your WhatsApp number

To stop 40FY acting on messages from your WhatsApp number straight away: sign in to 40FY, open Settings, Linked accounts, and choose Remove next to the number. From then on, messages from that number are not linked to your account and 40FY sends it nothing more. A linked number also stops acting for your account on its own after 180 days unless you link it again.

To remove the conversation from your phone, delete the chat with 40FY in WhatsApp. Messages kept by WhatsApp itself are covered by Meta's own policies.

Ask us to delete your information

Email info@40fy.co.za with the subject "Delete my data", from the email address on your 40FY account. Tell us:

• your name and the company you use 40FY for;
• what you would like deleted: everything, or something in particular (for example your WhatsApp messages);
• the WhatsApp number, if the request is about WhatsApp.

We check that the request comes from you, then delete the information or remove what identifies you, and confirm by email when it is done. We reply within 30 days.

What we may have to keep

Some records cannot be deleted on request, and we will tell you which apply to you:

• trade, tax and customer-check records the law requires us to keep, generally for five years after the trade or the business relationship ends;
• records your company or its trading partners still need for trades that are open or in dispute;
• payment and escrow records made on a public blockchain, which nobody can change or remove.

What we keep for these reasons is used only for that reason, and deleted when it no longer applies.
